Tapir Apps is a key corporate sponsor of World Land Trust (WLT). We protect tapir habitat through their Buy an Acre programme in Ecuador, working with project partner Nature and Culture International (NCI).
NCI works through a local staff and with local governments and communities to conserve a wide range of natural ecosystems including the rich cloud forests of the Andean mountains in Ecuador.
These areas hold a huge diversity of species including the Spectacled Bear and Mountain Tapir along with rare bird species and many endemic plants and animals. The Mountain Tapir is classified as endangered by the IUCN Red List (2007) due to on-going loss of habitat, fragmentation and pressure from hunting.
We donate 10% of our revenue to purchase and protect threatened habitat in Ecuador and Peru.
